2019 – 2020
|Tuesday after school
The library is open every Tuesday from 3.30pm to 4pm for children to borrow a book for 14 days after which it needs to be returned to the library and changed or renewed. Each book has a unique library barcode. Every child has their own code as well so books are scanned in and out of the library. Please do not return library books to the classroom.
If you have any queries regarding the library please see Mrs Noad or Mrs Sheppard.
Tuesday afternoons from 1.15pm to 3.15pm
(changed from Term 4)
Please ensure your child has their full named PE kit in school. PE bags are sent home every holiday giving parents an opportunity to wash items and check that their kit still fits. PE clothing that is too small restricts the children and is uncomfortable.
|Children need to be practising their reading and maths skills 5 times a week, with an adult MINIMUM. See reading below.
Reading can consist of activities such as Page 99, Tricky Work Window, Dictionary work or answer questions about a section of the text.
Times tables are a focus for home learning. The expectation is that by the end of the year they will know 2,5,10,3,4 and 8 times table, up to 12x. A little and often approach can be taken – some suggestions include:
Alternatively just search the times table on YouTube and there are hundreds!

|Handed out – Tuesday
|Tested the following Monday. 5 whole class words and 5 personal keywords from the ½ or ¾ curriculum list.
Times table test on a Friday.
|Book changes can be when the children want to but they should be reading the book more than once before changing. In Willow Class a reading train is used to track the children’s home reading and they will have a reward at the end of the term if they make it to the end.
Reading record books are checked weekly ( day will vary so books need to be in school every day). Child will move up the reading train if read 5x.
Children can practice answering VIPERs questions. Click here – vipers questions for parents
