Homework Spellings | Beginning of each term | Children are given a list of spellings which are being taught throughout the term. |
Homework Reading | 5 times a week at home | Children need to be practicing their reading 5 times a week at home, with an adult MINIMUM. This is in addition to any reading they do in school. Reading can consist of activities such as Page 99, Tricky Work Window, Dictionary work or answer questions about a section of the text. One or two pages a day is better than 10 pages once a week. Homework Maths | 5 times a week at home
| Children need to be practicing their maths skills 5 times a week at home, with an adult MINIMUM. This is in addition to maths at school. Times tables are a focus for home learning. Library Sessions | Children will change their library books in school once a week. | The library is open for children to borrow a book for 14 days after which it needs to be returned to the library and changed or renewed. Each book has a unique library bar code. Every child has their own code as well so books are scanned in and out of the library. Please do not return library books to the classroom. If you have any queries regarding the library please see Mrs Noad or Mrs Sheppard. |
PE Sessions | Year 3 TBC Year 4 TBC Year 5 Tues and Fri Year 6 TBC | Please ensure your child has their full named PE kit in school. PE bags are sent home every holiday giving parents an opportunity to wash items and check that their kit still fits. PE clothing that is too small restricts the children and is uncomfortable. PE kits should be in school every day as on occasions PE sessions may be rearranged. |
Swimming sessions | Wednesday | Year 3 and Year 6 will attend swimming lessons for 6 week blocks across terms 1, 2 and 3 In Terms 3 and 4 those children who have not obtained their 25 metre badge will have a further block of 10 lessons. Please ensure your child brings their swimming kit or gardening clothes to school every Wednesday morning to ensure they can take full advantage of these lessons. See the diary of events or the website calendar for the dates swimming takes place. |
Assessment Week | Monday to Friday | Year 3, 4 and 5 Term 1 – Week commencing 11th October 2021 Term 3 -Week commencing 10th January 2022 Term 5 – TBC Please ensure your child has a good nights sleep every night and a good breakfast. This will help with their concentration and ensure they do the best they can. Year 6 Term 1 – Week commencing 11th October 2021 Term 3 -Week commencing 10th January 2022 Mock SATs Week – TBC SATs Week – TBC Breakfast Club for Oak Class children will be run during both weeks from 8am until 8.45am. Thank you to The Friends for paying for the children’s breakfast.A meeting for Year 6 parents will be held before the SATS week with more information. |
Whole Class Music Lessons | Year 3 – Pupils will have 5 singing lessons with a choir teacher across term 3 and 4. Year 4 – Pupils will learn the ukulele over two 10 lesson blocks between term 1, 2, 3 and 4. Loan instruments will not be sent home but they are welcome to bring their own ukulele in if they have one. Year 5 – Pupils with have 10 lessons with Samba during terms 5 and 6. | |
