Community

Community is one of our Golden Threads and is an integral part of our school life. Every child learns how to be an upstanding citizen, making sure they are helping the community around them grow. They understand that a community is made up of people who come together and help each other.

Volunteering

Every year, our year 6 class volunteer to bag pack at Waitrose in Keynsham. We always try and arrange it around the festive period which adds to the spirit of the season. Any donations made by the community, go towards the year 6’s fundraising project of raising £2000 to go and watch a West End Production to inspire them for their own production in term 6.

Edgemont House and Warmley Nursing Home

Here at Redfield Edge we have very strong links with residential homes in our local area. We frequently visit to share work we have been creating, singing carols at Christmas and send letters to residents. This link was maintained through COVID Lockdown when children from various classes wrote letters to residents who weren’t allowed visitors.

Kingswood Heritage Centre

Learning about our local history is very important to us. We make sure all our topics are relevant to the children and try and get out into our community as much as possible!

Charity Fundraising

During COVID school closures, Year 3 started a community project to raise money for North Bristol NHS Charities. Each member of the class had to walk, run, cycle, hop… However they wanted to! So far, they have raised almost £1900.

The Children’s Hospice is an organisation close to Redfield Edge’s heart. The staff came together to raise much needed funds to support children and their families in ways only the Children’s Hospice can. Our school community fully support the work carried out by the charity and appreciate everything they do.

A family at our school benefits from the incredible service provided by the Children’s Hospice and we want to do our bit!

Redfield Edge had a massive DANCEATHON to raise money for the NSPCC. As a school, we danced for 4hours raising £1895!

Mental Health and Wellbeing is also one of our Golden Threads. We have many ways in school we promote Mental Health but wanted to extend our passion for Mental Health beyond our gates by raising money through a cake sale for Young Minds.

First Aid Training

Every Year, Year 6 complete their British Heart Foundation First Aid Course. The children are equipped in their communities to carry out first aid if needed.
