Job Title: High Level Teaching Assistant

Role & Responsibility:

I support Years 5 and 6
I am a Co-opted/Staff Governor

About Me

I am married to Harvey and have two teenage children, Chris and Dan. I live close to the school and both my children attended Redfield Edge until moving on to Sir Bernard Lovell School.
I have been working at Redfield Edge since 2003. I started as a parent helper when my youngest child Christopher was in Reception. I gained my qualification to become Teaching Assistant, and then a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. In 2014 I completed a first class honours degree in Education at the University of the West of England (UWE) the which I thoroughly enjoyed, although it was hard work. My dissertation was around transition from year 5&6 into year 7.This is an area that interests me immensely and I hope to put my findings into practice to support the children and parents.
As a family we enjoy camping through the summer-especially on the coast of Devon where the boys can fish from the beach. As you can imagine, having two boys, my weekends are taken up with football training and matches! I am now an expert at the offside rule! When I am not studying and have some time, I enjoy baking and especially making cupcakes.

Education Philosophy

Every child is amazing and has immense talent. We just have to nurture them so they can become confident, caring and responsible as they develop into young adults. Every child deserves the best start in life and we aim to help them reach their full potential as they move onwards.
