We have had an amazing year in the garden this year. When the current Pine class were in Hazel they all planted runner beans, which were then transplanted to the school garden after they had had an engineering lesson building the bean frame. They looked after them and regularly watered the plants and then picked them in September 2017. Even Buttons enjoyed them. Some Maple class children were involved in thinning out the strawberry patch and moving them to a new site. There were about 140 plants left over so we put them in pots and had a plant sale in May. Thank you to everyone who made a donation for a plant. On the day we raised £61.65. Some were then sold at the school fayre and we raised approximately £80 altogether. Year 5 and 1 were also involved in planting up our new shrub border by the play shed. The shrubs were donated to Mrs Sheppard by a building company along with daffodil bulbs. They also donated 3 cherry trees, which the school donated to Bitton Parish Council who planted them next to the new building behind the school. We also received two awards. The first was from RHS School Gardeners of the Year 2017 for our Contribution to School Gardening and the other was 3rd Prize in Bitton in Bloom. Well done to all pupils and parents who have been involved with the garden this year.
